Two common formats, one material. Here's how a lyophilised powder differs from a prepared research solution.

The dry format

A lyophilised material is a freeze-dried solid in a sealed vial. It is valued for storage stability and is reconstituted into a liquid when a researcher is ready to work with it. The dry format leaves the concentration and choice of diluent to the researcher.

The prepared-solution format

A prepared research solution is supplied already in liquid form at a stated presentation. It removes the reconstitution step, which some researchers find convenient, at the cost of the storage and transport advantages of a dry format.

Choosing between them

The right format depends on laboratory workflow and storage. Neither format changes the identity of the underlying material; both are supplied strictly for laboratory research use only and are described by the same core documentation.
