How research peptides are stored

Good storage keeps a research material in the state it was supplied. Here are the general principles.

General principles

Research peptides are generally kept cool, dry and protected from light, with the exact conditions depending on the material and its format. Lyophilised (dry) materials are typically more robust in storage than materials in solution. The product label and any supplied documentation are the authoritative source for a given item.

Why conditions matter

Temperature, moisture and light can all affect a material over time. Keeping a sealed dry format cool and dry, and minimising unnecessary temperature cycling, helps preserve it. Where a material has been reconstituted, storage expectations may differ.

Records and labelling

Storing materials in an organised, clearly labelled way supports good documentation practice and traceability. Note what a material is, its batch where stated, and the date it was received or prepared.
